The odd Politics of Italy
August 1st, 2010A Preface of Italian Politics
July 19th, 2010Italy is somewhat of a deviation in the democratic sweep of Europe. Italy took up a new constitution way back in 1948 after the disturbing experience of fascism and war. Uncommonly the two Houses of the Italian Parliament have the identical rights and powers – an exacting form of parliamentary democracy recognized as an ideal bicameralism. Though, this is distant as of being the only peculiarity of the Italian political structure. Politics in Italy is regularly beset with disgrace and bribery and, at times, it has seemed astounding that the Italian economic system could be so strong, when the Italian political scheme has been so chaotic.
Transformation of Italian politics
May 28th, 2010Italian politics was initially a monarch and autocratic structure where there used to be a king who governed the entire country, had a large share of the revenue generated and was assisted by a set of ministers. This was the scenario until 1948, but since then the king has been replaced by a president and it is the people of the country who get to choose the ministers who will run the country.

Territorial Politics in France and Italy
October 26th, 2009Two regions, Sesto San Giovanni, located near Milan, and Vynissieux, a short distance from Lyon, were until recently seen as communist and working class areas. This was due to the heavy industry and numerous high powered trade unions. In recent times both areas have become significantly less industrial and have met with a deep social change.
