Italian politics involves many political parties that represent different ideals. The parties in today’s Italian politics are the result of a political transformation in the 1990’s. Scandal, investigations, and changes in Italian political policy created many changes. Some parties disbanded and new ones emerged. Support for some parties decreased while others became popular with the Italian people. After party separations and mergers two parties now dominate Italian politics representing the polarities of center left and center right.
